Luckily, I was able to get myself to he gym the other day, and am heading out to go there in about an hour. I just got back from Foot Locker where I bought a new pair of Nike running shoes. I got my old ones about a year ago and they're pretty worn down, so it was time for a new pair. I've found a training schedule I'm going to follow, and I'm going to start it on Monday. The schedule begins Monday, which is actually a rest day. It's important to rest because running breaks down your muscles, and in order to build them back up to a stronger level, you must take at least two rest days a week, and vary your running mileage often. Here is the schedule I will be following, the first two weeks are clearly marked.
Also during these two weeks, I will confirm my mentorship with my selected mentor, and begin meeting with him to share ideas and thoughts. Two weeks puts me at February 20, lets see what I can do!!
Here's the schedule, wish me luck for a good start!
Looks like a great schedule Rachel! It's good that it incorporates different types of training, as well as rest days. I think, as you said, it's really important to make sure you're not putting too much strain on your body and you're allowing your muscles to heal, rest, and get stronger.
ReplyDeleteDo you think you will be training mostly at the gym? Or, as the weather improves, will you run outside? Also, will you train in the afternoon for the most part? I know you've worked out before school in the past, and I wonder if you'll continue to do so. Sometimes it's nice to just get it out of the way, at least that's how I see it :)
I know you'll do great!
Oh and by the way, I love the new shoes!!
